English: Memorial to Maggie Wall At this spot in the year 1657 Maggie Wall was burnt as a witch. There is no official record of her death but there was an anti-witch mania here in the 17th century. Likely the shameful event was hushed up. Now the local women whiten the lettering on the memorial each year and leave a wreath with a card inscribed, "In Memory of Maggie Wall, Burnt by the Church in the name of Christianity". |
