Description

Israeli Main Battle Tank The first indigenous Israeli tank design, development of the Merkava began in 1973 with the first examples entering service during 1979. The Mk.1 was armed with a 105mm IMI M64 gun, weighed 63 Tonnes and could reach 40mph on road. 250 were built and remained in service until 2014. This example is on display in the ‘Contemporary World’ hall. Musée des Blindés, Saumur, Pays de la Loire, France
