Es war nie ein Verkehrsweg, es ist vielmehr ein Relikt der ehemaligen Saline Ludwigshall in Bad Wimpfen,
das Fundament eines Gradierwerkes, das zur Reiniging der Bohrlochsole bis 1831 verwendet wurde.
