Description

c/n 420430 Built 1943 and served with 2 Staffel, I/Zerstorer Geschwader 26 (ZG26). At the end of the war she was surrendered by German forces at Vaerlose in Denmark. She was flown to RAE Farnborough for evaluation, arriving in October 1945. By May 1946 she had been selected for preservation and was placed in store, arriving at Cosford in early 1960. After making occasional static appearances, such as at Battle of Britain open days, she was moved to the collection at RAF St Athan in 1985. There, she was brought up to ground running condition but in December 1989 she came back to Cosford and has remained here, and silent, ever since. One of only two surviving examples of the type, she is currently on display in the ‘War in the Air’ hangar. RAF Museum, Cosford, Shropshire, UK.
