Description
Deutsch: Messerschmitt Me 262 A-1a Schwalbe (Werk Nr. 500079), captured by the USAAF, April 1945. Note/Hinweis W-R-H: Es dürfte sich um eine Me 262 des Geschwaderstabes des KG(J) 54 auf dem Flugplatz Giebelstadt handeln, Rumpf- bzw. Geschwaderkennzeichen: B3 + DA, grünes D. Die Staffelfarbe "Grün" dürfte sich auf der Bugspitze und auf den Lufteinlaufringen der beiden Turbinen wiederholt haben. Das Foto war bereits im Jahr 1967 in einer Ausgabe der "Profile Publications" (UK) veröffentlicht worden, wobei ebenfalls Giebelstadt als Standort, und April 1945 als Aufnahmezeitpunkt festgehalten ist.
Stab und I. Gruppe des KG(J) 54 waren vom 1. Sept. 1944 bis 28. März 1945 in Giebelstadt stationiert. Die weiteren Standorte waren Zerbst und Prag-Ruzyně. Das Geschwader wurde am 7. Mai 1945 in Saaz (Žatec, Böhmen) aufgelöst.
