Description
English: Messier 13 is a globular cluster 22,000 ly away in the constellation of Hercules - Several hundred thousand stars, the brightest of which is the V11 red giant star - More than a hundred times denser stars than in Sun's neighborhood - So densely packed together that they sometimes collide and produce new stars (blue stragglers) - The 1974 Arecibo message was beamed towards M13 as an experiment in contacting potential extraterrestrial civilizations in the cluster -
