English: Mexican Day of the Dead (El Dia de Los Muertos) celebrations on the 31st October and 1st November often include an alter (una ofrenda) to family, friends and also famous artists and singers who are no longer with us. It is not uncommom to find alter competitions around this time where groups of students in schools and universities compete to build the most elaborate and unique alters.
