[…] Meist sind zum Schutz eines Ufers mehrere aufeinander folgende Buhnen erforderlich, und es ist dann notwendig, ihre gegenseitige Entfernung auf eine zweckmäßige Weise zu bestimmen. Man sucht diese Entfernung dadurch auszumitteln, daß man durch den Punkt a (s. Figur), wo die erste B. das Ufer berührt, für den von demselben gebildeten Bogen eine Tangente ab und mit dieser eine Parallele cd durch den Kopf der B. zieht und dann den Punkt d, wo sie das Ufer trifft, zur Stelle der nächsten B. bestimmt.
