Description A Soviet-built Mikoyan-Gurevich MiG-15 jet fighter is shot down by a U.S. Navy fighter over Korea. The photo is dated 17 March 1953, at a time when no enemy planes were shot down by U.S. Navy pilots. This may be one of two MiG-15s shot down on 18 November 1952 by Grumman F9F-5 Panthers of Fighter Squadron 781 (VF-781) from the aircraft carrier USS Oriskany (CVA-34).
