021015: Miami, FL - CBP Agricultural Specialists have been working around the clock, inspecting imported flowers, for the last three weeks leading up to Valentine's Day. They are looking for plant pests that may have made the journey with the flowers, the pests pose potential danger to U.S. crops. Here are a few facts about flowers imported into the U.S.: - 87% of flowers imported into the U.S. go through Miami - last year CBPAS in Miami processed over 400 million stems during Valentine's - the cut flower business is estimated to be worth 7.5 billion dollars - CBP has more than 2,300 CBPAS
