Description
From the auction notes: The painting is a study for “Drachmann bliver malet af Krøyer” (Drachmann being painted by Krøyer) from 1907 (Michael and Anna Ancher's House). The motif is Krøyer sitting in front of his easel painting his famous portrait “By the fireside. Portrait of Holger Drachmann with a red Fez” from 1903–1907. That painting was sold at Bruun Rasmussen auction 690, 2001 no. 1049 for 5.200.000 DKK and bought by Skagen Museum (inv. 1710).
