English: (A) Microfabricated silicon parts can be fully separated (Left), locked together with comb fingers in contact (Center), or slightly separated (Right). (B and C) Bright-field images of hepatocytes (darker cells) and 3T3 fibroblasts cultured on the comb fingers. (D) Devices in a standard 12-well plate. Cell culture and functional assays were performed with standard methods. Figure adapted from Hui et al. (2007).
