Nikolenko, Pierre Mignard. The Portrait Painter of the Grand Siècle, Munich 1983, p. 124, cat. no. 54)."

Object history Auction: Sotheby's, 2 November 2004, Old Master Paintings, lot 88 auctioned as "A portrait of a lady as Venus, wearing a blue satin dress with a gold and white shawl, holding Paris's apple, together with Cupid and two doves in the foreground" [1] [2] [3]
Notes The portrait resembles contemporary effigies of Queen Marie Casimire Sobieska and her son Jakub Ludwik Sobieski, who was born in Paris in 1667, as well as portraits of Maria Anna Christine Victoria of Bavaria (1660-1690), Dauphine of France.
