| Description |
English: Milestone on West High Down, Totland. This milestone is a bit of a mystery, being nowhere near a road. The 1866 OS map on old-maps shows a track coming up the rough lane from the car park at SZ325855, past the milestone and on to the viewpoint at SZ298847, where there was another milestone. There were also milestones on the Newport Road from Freshwater to Calbourne together with a Toll Bar at Afton (near Toll Gate Cottages on the modern map). |
