English: Mill Row Formerly Mill Lane and Burnside.
There was a mill here as early as 1625 as a river ran through this area. It has long since been diverted underground - it runs from Ward Park and you can see it emerge at Bangor Marina. Bangor gasworks was previously located on the right - this is now taken up by the awful Flagship Shopping Centre (the side entrance to this at the top of the picture is possibly the worst entrance to a shopping centre I have ever encountered). The street has also been diverted on account of the shopping centre - it used to run to Bingham Street but now turns into High Street. |
