In this view captured by NASA's Cassini spacecraft on its closest-ever flyby of Saturn's moon Mimas, large Herschel Crater dominates Mimas, making the moon look like the Death Star in the movie "Star Wars." Français : Vue de Mimas, une lune de saturne, prise par la sonde Cassini. Mimas mesure environ 396 km de diamètre. La structure la plus remarquable de ce satellite est le cratère Herschel, qui, avec 130 km de diamètre, domine le paysage. C'est ce cratère qui donne à Mimas l'aspect de l'étoile noire de la guerre des étoiles. Ce bassin d'impact est l'objet d'études scientifiques. |
