Summary edit
DescriptionMimulus guttatus.jpg | unopened flower bud of Erythranthe guttata. The flower was split so as to retain the upper (galeate) calyx lobe. This flower but is the next in line below a flower in full anthesis (and is perhaps 2 days from anthesis). The opening of the bud is marked by a set of lone trichomes which effectively block the unopened calyx orifice. Glandular trichomes can be seen on the outer corolla surface. The corolla lobes are pleated in bud. |
