福岡市中央区南公園にある丘陵（旧称：「大休山」）の頂上。標高67.3メートル[1][2]。古来より展望に優れるとされ、「展望台」と呼ばれているが[3]、当写真の撮影時点では木立が生い茂り、展望には向かない。むしろ、眺望はここより西南西に約420メートル離れた同区輝国一丁目にある「南公園西展望台」が向いている。
