Nederlands: Galerie de Java (Wanze): een ondergrondse mijngang om ijzererts en steenkool vanuit de mijn in Couthuin rechtstreeks met een treintje af te voeren naar de Maas en spoorweg.
Aan de realisatie werd ononderbroken gewerkt van 1854 tot 1882. Daarbij werd een galerij voor de afwatering van een steenkoolontginning verder uitgediept. De galerij werd ook gebruikt voor de ontginning van aanwezige kolenlagen. De galerie bleef in gebruik tot de sluiting van de mijn in 1947.Français : Galerie de Java (Wanze), une voie de transport souterraine de la mine de Couthuin qui permettra l'acheminement des minerais de fer et le charbon directement par un petit train, du sous-sol de Couthuin jusqu'à la Meuse et la voie de chemin de fer.
Le creusement est poursuivis de 1854 à 1882. On a restauré et prolongé une galerie d'exhaure initialement creusée pour le démergement du gisement de houille. La galerie a également été utilisée pour l'extraction des veines de charbon dans le sous-sol. La galerie est restée en service jusqu'à la fermeture de la mine en 1947. |
