Description
English: KUWAIT NAVAL BASE (April 17, 2016)-Sailors and civilian personnel with Commander, Task Force 52 Mine Hunting Unit remotely pilot an Unmanned Surface Vehicle (USV) from ashore several miles away as the USV deploys an AQS-24A sonar in support of the International Mine Countermeasures Exercise (IMCMEX). IMCMEX is focused on maritime security from the port of origin to the port of arrival and includes scenarios that range from mine countermeasures, infrastructure protection and maritime security operations in support of civilian shipping. IMCMEX also focuses on demonstrating new technologies, such as USV, to protect freedom of navigation and the free flow of commerce. (U.S. Navy photo by Ken Rose/Released)
