English: Mine shaft at Wheal Edward The shaft has been surrounded by a stone wall as a safety measure. Tin and copper were mined here but in the spoil heap in the foreground can be found rocks containing pitchblende, which is the principal ore of uranium and a geiger counter will register at the top of the scale when passed over these. |
