Description

Miniature World is home to many miniature models, and while it is a tourist trap, it is a very interesting one.

This is a model railroad depicting Canada's transcontinental railroad - the reason why British Columbia had chosen to become part of Canada, rather than remaining with the UK or joining the US. This particular section portrays the double-corkscrew tunnels in Golden, British Columbia, that had made the previously very steep and dangerous journey between Vancouver and Calgary more manageable; other sections show major Canadian towns, from Vancouver all the way to Halifax, in 1885 or 1915 period appearance.

This photo is a milestone: it is my 4,000th Flickr upload.
