Summary edit
DescriptionMiniball overhead.jpg |
English: Miniball is a detector used to study the gamma ray spectrum produced in the decays of short-lived nuclei in the beam. It receives beams from the Radioactive Beam Experiment (REX) and the Isotope-Separator On-Line (ISOLDE) facilities. REX and ISOLDE have been combined since 2001 to produce accelerated beams of radioactive ions. Laser ion sources from RILIS and mass selection techniques allow a single isotope to be selected from the beam, creating a high purity source. |
