Este escudo no es precisamente el correspondiente al escudo de armas. Es un logotipo que fue creado por Andrés Alvarado con el fin de cambiar la imagen de la Alcaldía del municipio Simón Bolívar. Nunca se realizó concurso alguno para darle carácter institucional.

Esta obra es de dominio publico, ya que es el Simbolo de Municipio Simón Bolívar del Estado Anzoategui, Venezuela. Este es un logotipo creado por Andrés Alvarado, quien era diseñador de la Dirección de Información e Imagen de la Alcaldía del municipio Simón Bolívar. Los únicos simbolos del municipio Simón Bolívar fueron aprobados por ordenanza del 29 de marzo de 2012, aprobada por la Cámara Municipal, bajo la presidencia de Javier Gutiérrez. Consta de la bandera, escudo, himno y banda que impone de autoridad a la alcaldesa Inés Sifontes. Estos simbolos fueron creados por el periodista e historiador William Gómez García
