Español: El lunes 16, la Comisión de Verificación de la OEA empezó su recorrido por la frontera norte. Su primera visita fue a Tulcán, capital de la provincia del Carchi, donde escuchó a las autoridades locales y militares sobre los graves problemas que deben afrontar por las consecuencias de la aplicación del Plan Colombia: inseguridad ciudadana, desplazamiento interno de ecuatorianos, presencia de refugiados colombianos y distorsiones comerciales, entre otros. Hoy, la Comisión viajará a Esmeraldas para constatar la situación en San Lorenzo, Mataje, Borbón y Tobar Donoso. En la fotografía, el coronel Juan Villegas, comandante del Batallón Galo Molina, dialoga con Víctor Rico (derecha), representante del Secretario General de la OEA.
English: On Monday, the 16th, the OAS Verification Commission began its journey along the northern border. Its first visit was to Tulcán, capital of the province of Carchi, where it heard local and military authorities about the serious problems they must face due to the consequences of the implementation of Plan Colombia: citizen insecurity, internal displacement of Ecuadorians, presence of refugees Colombians and commercial distortions, among others. Today, the Commission will travel to Esmeraldas to verify the situation in San Lorenzo, Mataje, Borbón and Tobar Donoso.
