Description
English: This image compares soil hydration for the year 1998 and 1993, the year of the Great Flood. The image shows in dark green soils with the greatest hydration. Soil hydration from the spring as well as high pressure over the SE US driving moisture far inland and into cold air in NW US and the jet stream over the northern part of the flooded region. The images are derived from CPC: Flooding in the Central US: Special Climate Summary - 95/2 Climate Prediction Center, NOAA and Drought levels June 1998, Climate Prediction Center, NOAA Aspects of both images where combined and relabeled for clarity.
