English: Freshly Washed Hair: Woman of the Shōhō Era[1645-48] (Araigami, Shōhō koro fujin), from the series Thirty-six Elegant Selections (Sanjūroku kasen)
Description
English: As they emerge from the public bath in the background, we share an informal moment with a samurai family. Their attire is simple, and their hair, still wet, is plainly combed and unadorned. The servant, carrying a drying cloth and a long pipe, is easily identifiable through his plain and short garment, his bare feet, and his position behind the family.
