English: Illustration from folio 27 recto of book VIII of the Florentine Codex, a 16th-century Mexican manuscript addressing the history and culture of pre-Hispanic Mexico, depicting the execution of a nobleman named Huitznahuatl Ecamalacotl, found guilty of adultery by the tecpilcalli court of noblemen and warriors. Moctezuma II, emperor of Mexico, is seen at the left overseeing the execution.
