한국어: 김중업이 1965년에 설계한 서산부인과 병원은 그의 건축 모티브 중 하나인 '증식하는 원'의 원형으로 구성된 대표적인 작품이다. 서울 장충동에서 동대문디자인플라자로 향하는 큰 길에 위치해 있으며, 지하1층, 지상5층의 철근 콘크리트 구조이다. 대지조건이 협소하고 세모진 대로변에 위침했음에도 불구하고 자유로운 곡선과 노출콘크리트로 조형성을 극대화시켰으며 투명한 유리창과의 대비 효과도 보여주는 독특하고도 기능적인 건물이다.
English: Designed by Kim Chung-up in 1965, Dr.Seo's Women's Clinic Building is a hospital building based on reinforced-concrete structures, with five-stories and on basement floor. It stands in the Jung district, Seoul, by a three-cornered roadside on the way to the Dongdaemun Design Plaza from Jangchung-dong, Seoul. This building demonstrates what Kim termed "a proliferous circle" of architecture, which helps achieve the innovative qualities, characterized by variable curves and free flowing forms, in the name of efficiency. The beautiful contrast between the industrial glazing of glass windows and the exposed concrete walls brings artistic aspects to the building. |
