Description
English: Modified Warehouses,Globe Road, Bootle, Liverpool Originally built as warehouses in the Victorian era, these 'temples to commerce' were mainly used for the storage of imported materials (especially bales of cotton)brought up from the nearby docks. Note the original doorway and the rectangular-shaped area of new brickwork, that marks the place were the sacks and bales were hoisted up to the different floors of the then towering building! Sixty years ago, a now quiet Globe Road, would be teeming with dock traffic awaiting their 'turn' under the hoists!
