| Description |
English: Monsal Dale in winter. This photograph shows a winters view looking north into Monsal Dale from near the Monsal Head car park. In the valley bottom water has collected in the narrow flood plain around the farm. It is just possible to make out the group of buildings near the top of the photograph that make up the hamlet of Upperdale. The cutting in the top left of the photograph was part of the defunct Derby to Manchester mainline railway and no forms part of the Monsal Trail.
