Summary edit

Description
English: Montgomery tartan, from the Vestiarium Scoticum by the "Sobieski Stuarts" in 1842. While the VS was largely a fraud, many clan tartans were adopted from it, and this is no exception; this tartan is still used today as one of the main Clan Montgomery patterns.

This version of the image is full-sett and can tile horizontally and vertically. Scottish Register of Tartans' rather confused notes on this pattern: "No other details. A sample at Kilbarchan Weaver's Cottage shows a very large sett with the thread count for each blue being 60. Also appears in Clans Originaux (Montgomerie) - checked by Brian Wilton of the Scottish Tartans Authority June 2004. Scottish Tartans World Register - See Elphinstone. The Setts No 198. D.C Stewart. The Setts of the Scottish Tartans. Vestiaruim Scoticum, book on tartans produced between 1829 and 1842. the basis of a number of clan tartans."

This is a normal, mirroring tartan. Thread count from SRT, in slash notation: /G48 B16 G8 B16/ or in bold notation: G48 B16 G8 B16
