Description
Nederlands: Op 10 april 1945 bij de IJssel bij het Katerveer schoten de Duitsers tien mannen neer, omdat gedacht werd dat ze in het verzet gezeten

hadden. Negen mannen werden ook werkelijk geraakt, maar één man liet zich net op tijd, geboeid en al, in het water van de IJssel vallen en bereikte lichtgewond de kant zonder dat de Duitsers het zagen.

Deze man, een smid, heeft zelf een gedenkteken van ijzer voor zijn omgekomen vrienden gemaakt. Het is op die plek geplaatst en later vervangen door een stenen monument.
