Summary

Description
English: Church of St Mary Magdalene, Cobham, Kent, looking east towards the high altar. On the pavement are some of the famous monumental brasses of the de Cobham and Brooke families, successive lords of the manor of Cobham. Before the high altar is the sumptuous chest tomb with effigies of w:George Brooke, 9th Baron Cobham (1497–1558) and his wife Anne Braye. William Belcher in his Kentish Brasses (1905) stated: Kent is peculiarly rich in Brasses. It has, perhaps, a larger number and a more representative collection than any other county, although individually finer examples may be found elsewhere. No church in the world possesses such a splendid series as the nineteen brasses in Cobham Church, ranging in date between 1298 and 1529.[1]
