Summary edit

Description

Blanca Peak, located just south of Great Sand Dunes, has long been an important and even sacred landmark to many regional tribes and pueblos. It marks the northeast corner the Navajo (Dine') people's traditional homelands, called 'Sisnaajini' in their language ('Dawn' or 'White Shell' Mountain). Many Navajo people visit and climb this 14,345 ft (4,372 m) mountain each year.
