DescriptionMosaic with busts of muses, poets, seasons and Dionisian procession Jerash (Jordan), 3rd cent. AD 8819b panorama.jpg |
English: Mosaic: busts of muses and poets, seasons, Dionysian procession. From Gerasha/Jerash (Jordan), natural stones, glass, 3rd century AD. A braided band and fruit garland decorated with masks, alternating busts of poets and muses as well as the seasons in the corners decorated the frame of this floor mosaic, a Dionysian procession with a drunken Heracles in the inner field. It is likely that the villa’s owner was close to the theatre. Mos 73.
Like other people I took pictures of single "frames", but I then did - in addition to perspective correction and straightening - combine some into computer merged "panoramic" pictures. These cannot be taken as 100% representations but provide a good impression.
Deutsch: Mosaik: Musen- und Dichterbüsten, Jahreszeiten, dionysische Prozession. Aus Gerasha/Jerash (Jordanien), Natursteine, Glas, 3. Jh. n. Chr..
