  • October 17 (Julian) 1853 unpaid letter posted at Moscow. Handled by the department of 'Reception of incoming and dispatch of foreign correspondence'. The post office handstamped in red 'Porto'. 'MOSCOU OCTOB 17 *1853*' postmark applied.

  • November 6 (Gregorian). Red 'PRUSSE/3/VALENCIENNES 6 NOV 53' French entry mark, mail from Prussia (Prusse) entering France at the border town of Valenciennes. The small 3's show this mark was struck at Paris.
