Description

É no pequeno núcleo rural de Merufe que encontramos este interessante mosteiro de estilo românico, cuja história está ligada à fundação da freguesia. Inicialmente designado Convento das Irmãs Bentas, funcionava como abrigo para os peregrinos que se dirigiam a Santiago de Compostela. Feche os olhos e imagine os romeiros a chegar, cansados mas encorajados pela fé e animados por cânticos, a pedir um lugar para pernoitar… Actualmente, do primitivo convento resta apenas a igreja e alguns vestígios de muros. No exterior, podemos ainda ver algumas tampas de sepulturas, enquanto no interior subsistem uma pia baptismal e algumas pedras sigladas.
