Description
Português: A construção deste templo dedicado a Santa Luzia e ao Sagrado Coração de Jesus teve início em 1904, estendendo-se até 1959. A autoria é do arquiteto Miguel Ventura Terra, tendo-lhe sucedido o arquiteto Miguel Nogueira, após o falecimento do seu mestre em 1919.

A tipologia arquitetónica é de inspiração românico-bizantina, integrando-se na arquitetura revivalista que marcou a viragem de século. As suas imponentes rosáceas são as maiores da Península Ibérica e as segundas maiores da Europa.

Pode-se subir ao Monte de Santa Luzia de funicular (elevador), de viatura ou através do escadório. Deste local domina-se um importante trecho do Vale do Lima e uma grande parte da orla marítima, a norte e a sul do estuário do rio, assim como a verdejante serra. Este panorama foi considerado pela National Geographic Magazine como o 3º mais belo do Mundo.
