O Mosteiro de Santa Maria de Cárquere está ligado a muitas lendas anteriores à fundação de Portugal, como a do milagre de D. Afonso Henriques!

Na sua construção poderás identificar elementos da sua estrutura inicial românica: a torre e uma pequena janela a que se dá o nome de fresta, muito decorada! Esta fresta com uma interessante escultura está atualmente situada na capela funerária de uma importante família, sendo conhecida como o Panteão dos Resendes.
