Description
English: Mrs. Lucy A. Young served as a nurse for seven months under her maiden name of Lucy A. Newton during the American Civil War. Stationed initially at Camp Baxter in St. Johnsburg, Vermont with the 3rd Vermont Volunteers, she also rendered care as a volunteer nurse to Union soldiers at Camp Lyon in Maryland, and at Camp Advance and Camp Griffin in Virginia. Post-war, she was a member of the National Association of Civil War Army Nurses, and resided in St. Johnsburg, Vermont in 1910.
