Description
English: Mrs. Mary L. Rathmell served under her maiden name of Maria L. Moore as a contract nurse for slightly more than a year during the American Civil War. After initially serving during the winter and spring of 1863 at Camp Dennison in Ohio with the U.S. General Hospital for the Army's Ninth Division, she was honorably discharged during the spring of 1863. She was then re-hired in March 1865, and served until September of that year. Post-war, she was a member of the National Association of Civil War Army Nurses, and resided in Bellefontaine, Ohio in 1910.
