Summary
editDescriptionMuchall Park, Penn, Wolverhampton - geograph.org.uk - 1150015.jpg |
English: Muchall Park, Penn, Wolverhampton A mature avenue of beech (?) trees crosses the park. Did this originally lead to and from Muchall Hall? The 1830s maps show it as Mitchell, and place it in the area of the play area and houses at the western end of the present day park, so this line of trees does not appear to lead directly there. A 1903 map shows the avenue leading from the camera position past a manor house (Penn Manor? not shown on the 1830s map) to the present Penn Road, and behind the camera, up the present Manor Road towards the former Muchall Hall. Suggestions welcome! |
