| Description | Muller House in Arlington Heights (1882). Frederick William Muller was born in Teterow, Germany who immigrated to Chicago in 1868. He worked at Sass & Hefner, a soda water manufacturer, until 1872. One of the partners at the firm was Muller's half-brother Louis Carl Henry Sass. Sass and Muller opened their own soda manufactury in Arlington Heights at 116 S. Dunton Street. Muller purchased his half-brothers interest in the company only months later and renamed the company F. W. Muller Carbonated Beverages. Muller built a house/factory at the corner of N. Vail & Fremont Streets. His two sons took over the business in 1923, renaming it Arlington Club Beverages. Muller was also the supervisor of Wheeling Township from 1887 to 1915 and was mayor of Arlington Heights from 1897-1899. His eldest daugher married Nathaniel M. Banta. After changing hands numerous times, the soda company went bankrupt in 1991. |
