Object history Commande pour le Monument aux morts de la guerre de 1914 1918 ; Ce plâtre correspond à une première version définitive de la tête qui devait figurer au sommet du corps de la France pour le Monuments aux Morts de la guerre de 1914-1918. Cependant, une fois positionnée chez son fondeur, Rudier, Bourdelle s'aperçut que cette tête avait un cou trop fin et une allure grêle. Il en proposa donc une autre version dont les mèches de cheveux descendaient le long du cou pour le renforcer et où la coiffure s'ornait, au-dessus du front, d'un volumineux motif trilobé.
