Français : Autres titres : Musée Redpath. Description : Le Musée Redpath est le deuxième édifice érigé sur le campus. Sa construction, en 1880-1882, est rendue possible grâce à une donation de Peter Redpath, magnat de l'empire sucrier. Membre du conseil d'administration du Collège, Peter Redpath fait également un don important en vue de créer une chaire de philosophie naturelle. La famille Redpath habite une résidence située à proximité de l'Université McGill depuis qu'en 1830, le père de Peter Redpath, John Redpath, achète un domaine de villégiature sur le flanc sud de la montagne, à l'instar des membres de l'élite montréalaise de l'époque. Le Musée Redpath est le premier édifice au Canada créé expressément pour cette fonction. Il est construit pour exposer les collections d'histoire naturelle de sir William Dawson, ancien directeur de l'Université McGill. Sir William Dawson innova dans l'enseignement en proposant un curriculum pratique et en offrant plusieurs cours, tels que la géologie, la botanique et les sciences naturelles, des cours qui convenaient bien à l'environnement de la montagne.
