Description
Deutsch: Das Gebäude des heutigen Museums wurde um 1609 erbaut. Danach diente es während Jahrhunderten als Rüsthaus (Zeughaus) für die Truppen des damals staatspolitisch noch souveränen (unabhängigen) eidgenössischen Standes Solothurn. Dies auch noch über die Gründung des Bundesstaates von 1848 mit einer gewissen Zentralisierung der Heeresorganisation hinaus. Zu Beginn des 20. Jahrhunderts nahm der Kanton einige neue Zeughäuser in Betrieb, das in der Solothurner Altstadt gelegene Rüsthaus wurde in ein Museum umfunktioniert. vgl. https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Museum_Altes_Zeughaus_Solothurn
