Death Valley - California - Mushroom Rock
a large unusually shaped block of basalt, is located along Highway 178 (about 5 miles south of the Furnace Creek Junction near the exit of Artist Drive). Theories about it origin include erosion by the wind and corrosion by salty groundwater when the boulder was partially buried in the past.
