Beschreibung des Ortes selbst. Angenehme Lage? Höhe über dem Meere? Wieviel Einwohner? Militär? Welche Gebäude meines Wohnortes gehören dem Staate? der Gemeinde? Welche Bildungs- und welche gemeinnützigen Anstalten gibt es darin? Womit beschäftigen sich die Bewohner hauptsächlich? Landwirtschaft, Industrie, Kunst? Bodenprodukte, Jndustrieerzeugnisse? Handel? Welche Märkte finden statt? Welche besonderen Gebräuche und Volkssitten hat man in meiner Heimat?
III. Schluß. In der Heimat ist es schön, gewiß! Aber Man sollte doch jedem Erwachsenen zurufen: Mensch, gehe auf Reisen! und zu den Trägen sollte man sprechen: Leutchen, rührt euch durch die Welt und laßt euch eure Ecken und Unebenheiten abschleifen! Erst die Fremde lehrt uns die Heimat recht kennen Und schätzen.
Z. Der Igel.
Im nachfolgenden geben wir eine ganz kurze, einfache Tierbeschreibung. Es wird ein Leichtes sein, danach andere Beschreibungen zu fertigen.
I. Einleitung. 1. Der Igel ist ein kleines Säugetier, und zwar gehört er zu den Insektenfressern unter den Raubtieren.
H. Beschreibung. 2. Der Igel hat einen spitzen Kopf, einen kurzen Hals, einen dicken Rumpf, vier Beine und ein kurzes Schwänzchen. 3. Die Ohren sind kurz und abgerundet. 4. Die Füße haben fünf Zehen und lange Krallen. 6. Die Oberseite seines Körpers ist mit Stacheln besetzt.
III. Lebensweise. 6. Wenn der Igel schläft, rollt er sich wie eine Kugel zusammen. 7. Das tut er auch, wenn man ihm etwas anhaben will. 8. Man kann ihn dann nicht angreifen, ohne sich zu stechen. 9. Er lebt in Gärten, Feldern, Wäldern, Gebüschen, Steinhaufen und Löchern unter der Erde; sein Nest polstert er sich mit Heu, Laub und Moos aus. 10. Er frißt Mäuse, Würmer, Kröten, Frösche, Eidechsen, Schlangen und Schnecken und ist deshalb ein sehr nützliches Tier. 11. Da er aber auch Apfel, Birnen und Pflaumen an der Erde raubt, schadet er zuweilen etwas dem Gärtner und Landwirte.
IV. Schluß. 12. Man soll einen Igel niemals töten, da sein Nutzen sehr groß, der von ihm angerichtete Schaden nur
