Mwana Kupona House Lamu

Summary

edit
Description
English: Mwana Kupona stone house was build over 200 years. The house was named after the great known Swahili Poet in Lamu. She was born in 19th century at the Island of Pate, and died in 1865. Despite of her being born in the Island of Pate she lived in Lamu old town. Mwana kupona was known for her poem that she recited to her daughter two years before she died. The poem was a sort of bequest to her daughter. Her stone house found in Lamu old town still holds a significant history, as it gives the evidence of the Mwana Kupona life in Lamu.
